WOMEN OF STRENGTH™️
STORIES OF COURAGE AND LEGACY

THE CAMPAIGN
In honor of Women’s History Month, FREIDA ROTHMAN is proud to present the WOMEN OF STRENGTH™: Stories of Courage and Legacy campaign, honoring widows and children of those who lost their lives on September 11. Their stories reflect extraordinary resilience, courage, and the enduring strength of families who have carried forward the legacies of loved ones through remembrance, perseverance, and purpose.
Freida's greatest Inspiration has always been her grandparents. As Holocaust survivors, they found refuge in America, a place where they could rebuild their lives with hope, resilience, and unwavering determination. Their journey instilled in her a lifelong belief that strength is not only about enduring hardship, but about rising above it and inspiring others to do the same.
That belief is at the heart of our annual WOMEN OF STRENGTH™ campaign, a celebration of remarkable women whose courage and resilience shape communities around them. This year, we honor families who continue to carry forward the memory and legacy of those they lost, transforming grief into strength and purpose.
Through their stories, we are reminded that courage lives on through the legacies we protect, the memories we honor, and the strength we pass from one generation to the next.
“Through the WOMEN OF STRENGTH™️ campaign, we aim to celebrate the remarkbale achievements of resilient women and inspire future generations to pursue their passions with courage.”

Sean O’Neill
Woman of Strength
New York, NY
Sean O’Neill was born in March 2002, six months after her father lost his life in the September 11th attacks while working as a trader at Cantor Fitzgerald. Growing up in Rye, New York, and attending the same high school as her parents, Sean was raised surrounded by a community that knew her story and supported her family through unimaginable loss.
As she has grown older, the absence of her father has remained deeply present in both quiet moments and life’s major milestones. From graduating high school and college to preparing to complete her Master’s degree at Columbia University this May, these moments are reminders of the life he should have been there to witness.
When Sean left home for college, she began to experience her story differently. For the first time, she had the choice of how and when to share such a defining part of her life. Learning to carry her story on her own terms became both challenging and empowering, showing her the strength that comes from vulnerability when it is chosen rather than expected.
Today, Sean is a teacher in New York City. Her work is deeply rooted in the belief that history is not only something we study, but something people live through. She strives to help her students understand that behind every historical moment are real families, memories, and lives that continue to shape the world around us.
Sean keeps her father close in many ways. She often reflects on how grateful she is to see pieces of him in herself and to hear his life through the stories shared by those who knew him. She and her mother, who remain incredibly close, also feel connected to him through their shared love of music, a place where his presence still feels near.
Today, Sean’s life is grounded in love, remembrance, and gratitude for the family she has built alongside her mother and stepfather. Her story is one of legacy, resilience, and the quiet strength of carrying someone’s memory forward through the life you continue to live.
Holly O’Neill-Melville
Woman of Strength
Rye, NY
Holly O’Neill-Melville met her husband Sean while they were both students at high school in Rye, New York. Although they were friendly at the time, their relationship grew years later, and they began dating in 1997. They were married in June of 2001, a day Holly still remembers as the happiest of their lives.
Shortly after their honeymoon, Holly and Sean were overjoyed to discover that they were expecting their first child. Sean was working as a trader at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, while Holly was serving as the Director of a nonprofit organization on the Lower East Side supporting survivors of domestic violence with disabilities, work she began while earning her Master’s degree in Social Work at NYU.
Just three months after their wedding, Holly’s life changed forever when Sean lost his life in the September 11th attacks. In the span of only a few months, Holly found herself newly married, pregnant, and widowed at the age of 31.
Sean was known for his warmth, humor, and extraordinary kindness. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and welcomed, whether they had known him for years or had just met him. He loved music, skiing, and sharing laughter with the people around him. Those who knew him remember not only his joyful spirit but also the deep compassion he showed to others in everyday moments.
One memory captures his character perfectly. While running late to a friend’s wedding in New York City, Sean noticed a homeless man asking for money. He stopped, bought him a meal, and sat on the sidewalk beside him while he ate. It was a small moment that reflected the generosity and empathy that defined who he was.
Later that year, Holly gave birth to their daughter, Sean, who was named in her father’s honor. She carries his spirit in many ways, from her sense of humor to her love of life and curiosity about the world. Through stories, photographs, and the memories shared by family and friends, Holly has made sure her daughter knows the father whose legacy continues to shape her life.
In time, Holly found love again. She remarried in 2007 and later welcomed a son. Together, they have built a family grounded in compassion, resilience, and deep gratitude for the life they share. Holly often reflects on the profound truth that grief and love can coexist, that loss and joy can exist side by side.
Her story is one of enduring love, strength through unimaginable loss, and the belief that even in life’s most difficult moments, hope and gratitude can continue to guide the path forward.
LISA FRIEDMAN CLARK
WOMEN OF STRENGTH
BOCA RATON FLORIDA
Lisa Friedman Clark often describes herself as the 'luckiest unlucky' person she knows. Standing 6'1' wth bright red hair, she naturally stands out in a crowd, but it is her story of resilience, optimism, and perseverance that truly defines her.
Born in New York City, Lisa attended Great Neck South High School on Long Island before earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. She began her career at IBM in Syracuse before later transitioning into banking, forging a path in a field where few women were working at the time.
In 2001, Lisa's life changed forever when her husband, Andrew Friedman, lost his life in the September 11 attacks just two weeks after beginning a new role at Cantor Fitzgerald. At the time, their twin sons were just eleven years old. In the days following the tragedy, Lisa and her sons joined volunteers in New York City, distributing essentials to first responders working at Ground Zero.
Years later, her sons Mike and Dan transformed a lifelong challenge into a business with purpose. Standing 6'11" and 6'9", they struggled to find socks that fit their size 16 feet and created Tall Order Socks, a company designing socks for men sizes 9 through 20. The brand honors Andrew Friedman's legacy by naming each sock after one of his close friends and donating ten percent of profits to nonprofits supporting families affected by tragedy. The company has also partnered with Aaron Judge to further expand its reach and mission.
Lisa's life has been shaped by extraordinary challenges, including her own battles as an ovarian and breast cancer survivor. Through it all, she has remained deeply optimistic, devoted to her family, and committed to giving back.
Her story is one of resilience, perseverance, and the power of choosing hope, even in life's most difficult moments.
